Data-Green Solutions – Ecofriendly solutions to technical challenges

It occurred to me that, as I am constantly reading and researching environmental issues related to technology, other folks might have some interest in my thoughts.

Or not! I know in the world of the technorati, I’m not particularly well known. On the other hand, I’m pushing some ideas these days that others haven’t seen fit to raise yet…so perhaps some will find it interesting.

A few technical notes:

  • I’ll shoot for updates in a regular basis. Once per day may be too much, frankly, since I’m not much of a technical writer these days, but I’ll make a real effort to keep some update flowing.
  • I picked WordPress ’cause I’m becoming more and more of a fan of open source, in certain applications. It’s not a great fit for everything, but it is a good fit for some. And I’ve played with WordPress on one of our servers in the past, and liked the way it worked.
  • I’ve used Qumana as a blogger in the past, but it always seems to run into issues, and I wind up losing a bundle of posts that I can’t seem to get to upload. For the moment, I am using the Scribefire add-in for Firefox
  • Finally, the blog name – while I don’t want it to seem too forward of me, the goal is to establish a standard. Sure, it’s not one yet, but we’re working on it.

Finally, a link – to Data-Green Solutions. We’re doing all sorts of work to introduce and encourage a standard method for measuring a company’s progress toward ecofriendliness, check it out.
