I was asked the other day ‘Why does DGE track executive compensation?’
For those who may not know it, we evaluate all sorts of things (more than twenty-five areas) when doing a DGE rating. One of those involves the tying of compensation (executives, technology management, technology personnel) to eco-friendliness.
The basic idea here is if a company considers a higher DGE rating important enough, they include some level of compensation for the team that is related to improving the DGE rating. This has several effects: the team tends to track their DGE ratig closely; the executives have an interest in the technology being implemented efficiently; there’s a greater degree of motivation to pay attention to the ecotechnological impact of their decisions; and ultimately, the company saves money!
